A Quick Update
For those of you who still get notice of my blog articles, here is a quick update. I realized I hadn’t written since Christmas. I knew it, but time flies, and I lost track of time. That seems like a flimsy excuse, and it would be, but there is a more significant reason for my absence on this site.
I have returned to seminary. I started a couple of years ago, but it wasn’t working out as I expected, so I let it go. However, I felt a pull to go back. So, as I was reevaluating my options, I came across a different school than the one I had started with. Through a series of events that I don’t have time to get into now, I decided to enroll at Northern Seminary in Lisle, Illinois.
My first class started at the beginning of January, and that’s the real reason for not writing an article. I am enjoying my first class. It is Women in the New Testament, taught by Dr. Nijay Gupta. If you are unfamiliar with Nijay, you can hear him on his podcasts (Slow Theology and Engaging Scripture, A Bible Podcast) and as a guest on several others (The Holy Post, Kingdom Roots, etc.).
We have had several guest speakers, including the authors of our texts for the class, Susan Hylen, Paula Gooder, and Jenny Matheny. I look forward to the final class when Amy Peeler lectures. We are using her book, Women and the Gender of God. It is an enlightening and challenging text, and I recommend it to anyone who questions why we refer to God as Father.
Well, that’s all for now. I don’t know when I’ll get to another article. I have a research paper due in a couple of weeks. I thought about using it for a post, but I am unsure if I will have time to translate an academic treatise into an article. Then I start another class in April.
I have a lot of thoughts about what to write next, so I hope to get something out before summer. Thanks for your patience. Contact me if there is something you would like me to address. God bless you.
